Over 2024/25, I had an ongoing contract with BSO and spent 18 months creating the majority of their print and digital marketing collateral. Here are a few project highlights.
Flyers
These are postcard flyer designs for upcoming Pops concerts, a category of concerts defined by the performances being of well-known classical or more modern music (think Hans Zimmer).
The Pops brand is defined by the use of circular bubble artwork, which I have adapted into my designs by changing the colours and arrangement to suit the theme of the concert. Primarily, these flyers were to be used for mailing, so it was important to have a set blank space for franking and addressing. I used a light overlay of the bubbles to liven the space up and add a subtle flourish of colour aside from the text, and it worked really well.
I was tasked with creating an A6 flyer for the BSO participate department, who bring music to the wider community through activities, workshops and specialised concerts.
My idea with this flyer was to visualise the idea of people coming together and finding meaning through music. Using the BSO fonts and colours, I used circles as a visual tool to represent people and arranged them so they were all touching, reflecting the idea of coming together and connecting.
Hall of Fame Digital Billboard
This was the first impressive project I took on with the BSO, creating billboards for the Hall of Fame concerts to be shown across Poole, Bournemouth, Portsmouth and Exeter. I took inspiration from the flyers I designed to create the billboards, ensuring the artwork was suitable for the format (no white backgrounds on digital billboards!)
Christmas and New Year 2024 Campaign
In the latter part of 2024 I was asked to create the marketing collateral for the upcoming festive season, including the leaflet which was to be distributed across the South West.
Over the period of a month, I completed over 26 pieces of artwork for this campaign, alongside working 30 hours a week at my main job. This was a good test of my ability to stay organised and calm under pressure. I'm happy to say things went smoothly and everything was delivered on time!
